An old Chinese proverb says that the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago and the second best time to plant one is now.
In my opinion, trees are a pretty helpful asset to planet. Aside from giving kids a place to build their forts, providing places for old men to hang their hammocks and offering shade for mother’s garden, trees breathe in what we breathe out. It’s a pretty good relationship, us and trees, because we breathe in what they breathe out too and so this happy cycle continues.
But what would happen if we suddenly stopped breathing oxygen? Aside from dying, the trees on our planet would run out of purpose. It is all tied together you see, intricately designed. The squirrel’s mistake grows into a life-giving asset… and the squirrel doesn’t even know it at the time. And eventually that little forgetful mistake of an acorn decides to sprout and it grows and grows and grows some more.
Then the next generation of squirrels have a new place to raise their babies, boys who once built forts now have a new place to hang their hammocks and we all get to keep breathing.
Don’t discredit yourself on account of your mistakes little squirrels, God is still working all things together for good; acorns included.

I love the movie “The Sword and the Stone” because it’s so stinkin’ funny! Merlin & Wart tag-team in the kind of classic hilarity brought to life in Disney’s golden era under Walt’s personal direction in this1963 classic. I think one of my favorite parts is when they turn into squirrels. After watching the SNEAK PREVIEW OF ICE AGE 3 yesterday and watching Scrat’s acorn adventures, I got to thinking… if squirrels bury acorns and acorns turn into oak trees, then in oak trees owe a lot to the furry little rodents that inhabit their branches. |
