The ice is melting, which is a good thing, but it's got me wondering, why winter?
The other night Lindsey and I went to visit some good friends of ours for dinner. The schools and businesses were closed all day, so that should have clued me in, BUT we hadn't seen each other all day, so we wanted to hang out. Dinner and game night was the perfect opportunity.
What is normally a 35 minute round-trip took well over an hour, and by the time we had arrived for dinner, the freezing rain had stopped and the snow had started.
The car, which had been scraped off twice that day was looking good. In fact, I was pretty proud of how clean and un-iced it was, considering the alternative. Now, for those of you who know me, you already know that I don't like the cold, snow or ice, period. This day was a stretch. The ice was SO thick, well, it doesn't matter, We'll just say I invested a lot of time outside scraping windows and windshields that day.
So we finish dinner and looked out the window, at my Jeep, which was now COMPLETLEY COVERED in snow. I was not happy, and that's putting it mildly.
I don't know what it is about winter that makes me SO angry... but I am not very happy. Some people don't mind it, adjust to it, and even *gasp* enjoy it, but it makes me grouchy, unhappy and uncomfortable. Lindsey reccomends, like Brian, to simply make the best of the bad situation. We're stuck in it, they say, so make the most of it.
I think this illustrates the point of surrounding yourself with positive people; friends who know you and love you enough to tell you when to suck it up! I love those two! And while Linds doesn't necessairly love the snow, she's got a great outlook on it. Brian, he doesn't mind it at all.
Good times, pointless blogging.

There’s just something that comes with living In the Midwest that you don’t find in other places in the United States. After spending a majority of my life living within this geographic area, I have come to appreciate what I like to refer to as the “rollercoaster phenomenon” – and no, I’m not referring to the attractions in Sandusky, Ohio. So there I was, walking around downtown Chicago. The temperature was in the teens and I was walking around snuggled down deeply in my scarf, gloves and overcoat. Never posted a blog in Taco Bell before, but I guess 2009 is a year of new experiences and opportunities! Where do I begin? The first blog of 2009... a lot has happened since I was "leaving Lindsey" - and rest assured, we've been reunited! |
