Wow, I've never had a holiday with the "in-laws" before, but I've gotta say, for a first one this was incredible! I guess one of the best things about Lindsey is that I get to marry my best friend. Spending time together is just so incredible, because we get to laugh, talk (yes, we're both talkers which make for some LONG conversations) and hang out - there's nothing better!
So we head out a little bit late, because I was in the office uploading a conference ad to Children's Ministries Magazine, and man, I was SO tired. I know, big surprise, right? SO I get in the car and fall right asleep. I did manage to wake up a few times, just enough to take a short video blog (see Facebook) and to go into the rest stop and get some Oreo's and then fall right back asleep.
Once we got there I've gotta say we stayed in a beautiful area. Nashville, gorgeous... and it was even more beautiful because of the company I was keeping! :)
I had such a great time meeting Heath & Jenny, Matt & Sarah and Matt & Amy, along with James, David, Glenn, Susan, Susan. Don, Michael and about a hundred other people! On top of that I think everyone had about 4 dogs too, we had almost as many dogs as people!
Speaking of dogs, a friend Brian (not Perch) happened to stop by and he had some of the CUTEST little lab puppies, we nearly took home two of em' - but using our better judgment, decided to hold off! I mean, we're not even living together right now (because we're not married yet) so how on earth would we realistically manage two dogs?
Anyways, Thanksgiving was beautiful AND WARM outside. We broke a sweat playing football and shooting clay pigeons... ok, so maybe the shooting was on Black Friday, but you'd never know if I didn't tell ya! I drove the girls to the mall for shop-till-ya-drop and escaped to the comforts of Best Buy and Lifeway Bookstore. I bought X: Christmas & the Casting Crowns Christmas CD's - both of which are very good, though styalistically very different.
From there, we finished up our stay and headed back to the car... which meant I was back to bed. After an uneventful drive home (...) we headed out on a date back in Springfield to Maccroni Grill and then to bed.
Man, what a weekend! Oh, and can I just say, Sunday night we had an INCREDIBLE LifeGroup! More to come on that later!!!
