So I thought it might be fun, in the same vein as Julie & Julia (or was it Julia & Julie… I can’t remember now) to write a blog about my daily experiences at Target and the lessons I’m learning there. With that being said, welcome to Targetime 0001. I decided to add the three 0’s instead of just the two in the event this thing would take off and then in three years I wouldn’t have to ruin the consistency and add a fourth 0 then… does that even make sense? I mean, Lord willing of course.
I guess in all honesty it’d be better to see if this thing even lasts two days before I begin to plan the next three years, but one can never be too careful, you know?
So without further hesitation, here it is, the inaugural edition of TARGETIME!
With our schedule waning since the busy holidays and our seasonal help no longer at the store, things have slowed down a bit than how they were one month ago. With that said, I was out retrieving carts yesterday. It has been unusually beautiful weather this January, well at least this last week and temperatures have been in the 40’s. LOVE THAT!
Anyways, as I was walking out, and having a pretty good day mind you, I noticed the writing on the back of a shirt that really encouraged me and I remember thinking “WOW, who knows when God might speak to you!”
The reddish shirt has Philippians 1:6 written in white lettering across the center of the back and as I read it, it stirred something inside of me that I’d never felt before. It was interesting, because it is such a good verse, but somehow, in the midst of pushing shopping carts, I was reminded of the truth in scripture…
“BE CONFIDENT OF THIS, THAT HE WHO BEGAN A GOOD WORK IN YOU WILL CARRY IT TO COMPLETION UNTIL THE DAY OF CHRIST JESUS’ RETURN”
And it just sort of hit me… like “Whoop, there it is!” and I thought to myself “HE started it, HE put it there inside of me, HE is carrying it and HE will help me accomplish it until HE returns.”
It doesn’t matter what you’re doing “NOW” and how important (or insignificant) it may make you feel; take CONFIDENCE that God’s plan is one with intentionality and purpose and know without a doubt that HE is working all things together for our good.
And that's right on target.
