I remember when I used to wake up in Valley 2 and leave Eicher/LeFevre for my walk across campus to Lawson Ice Arena. The pool there opened at 6:00 am for lap swimming and so I'd leave at about 5:30 (give or take a few minutes depending on the day) to make the trek to swim. For all of you Broncos out there, you know those two points are about as opposite of each other as you can get on our campus.Well today I woke up and made the trek again, not to Lawson, but to a pool to swim laps. I have to admit, it felt good to get back into the water again. Let's be honest, I'm no Michael Phelps, but then again, he's no Christopher Strok either, so I'd say it balances each other out.
Now when it comes to laps, I'm probably better at running them than swimming them, but give me a little bit of time and who knows, London 2012 perhaps? Ok, well we ALL know that's not going to happen, but we don't all know why I'm writing about my swimming excursion.
Yet you keep on reading to find out why. How am I going to tie it all together? Maybe I'm just self-deceived and nobody is really reading this at all.
I suppose that could be the point of this blog... Do I (or the collective "we") take spare moments out of our days to write down our thoughts and experiences and share them with the world because we have something to say or because we have to say something?
Is it because, in this small, tiny piece of cyber-space I feel like I have an opportunity to share through my own self-disclose whatever I want, whenever I want to, without feeling embarrassed, intimidated or ridiculed?
Is it because I want to share something with friends or my networks of them without feeling vulnerable? Is it because I know there are people out there I can encourage? Is it because I know that as a result there will inevitably be someone who will encourage me through a poke, ping, txt, IM, DM or @reply?
Whatever the reason, its here, posted and ready for you, so thanks for reading. And now as I wrap up this blog, it's time for me to take a metaphorical walk back to the Valleys and finish out the rest of my day.
